Bacterial biodiversity in the archives of the Czech Republic

Published data were used in a project focused on identifying bacterial species on archival audio-visual materials and in the air of archives. The sampling was carried out in the years 2019-2020. Samples were collected in four state archives in the Czech Republic (State Regional Archive Litomerice and Prague-Chodovec, State District Archive Nepomuk and Hradistko). For the air samples, 3,000 litres of air were collected on PTFE fluoropore membranes using a MAS-100 Eco aeroscope. The swabs were taken from photographic emulsions using sterile polyurethane sponges, which are gentle on the materials.
