Breath Cycle

Breath Cycle is a community opera and singing project informed by and performed by people with cystic fibrosis (CF). The project was conceived of and led by Gareth Williams, during his time as Composer in Residence at Scottish Opera from 2011 to 2014, as part of his practice to find new participants and collaborators in the creation and performance of new opera. The project was developed and delivered at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow. Breath Cycle set out to measure the impact of singing on the lung function of people with CF, and to create music for people with CF to sing together. This dataset is held in the Edinburgh DataVault, directly accessible only to authorised University of Edinburgh users.
