Dataset Anchoring effects in the assessment of papers

The analyses presented in Bornmann, L, Ganser, C., and Tekles, A.: Anchoring effects in the assessment of papers: An empirical survey of citing authors (under review) are based on this dataset. It contains experimental data from a survey among corresponding authours of scientific articels who where asked to rate references they cited in their papers. The authors were randomly assigned to different experimental settings in which they received (or not) (1) a randomly generated anchor that is not related to the quality of publications, (2) information about the (true) citation impact of the paper (as an anchor with possibly relevant information), or (3) information about the (true) citation impact of the journal in which the paper was published. <br> Data are provided as labeled Stata dataset and csv.
