Anonymized Raw Dataset of Caregiver Burden and Anxiety Among Relatives of Cancer Patients Undergoing Active Chemotherapy (N = 494)

This public repository contains the fully anonymized, complete-case raw dataset (N = 494) collected from informal caregivers accompanying cancer patients in the outpatient chemotherapy waiting units of İzmir City Hospital between October 2025 and May 2026. To ensure strict methodology replication and prevent statistical imputation bias, a complete-case analysis approach was adopted, resulting in the exclusion of 140 incomplete records from the initial 634 screened dyads. The finalized dataset encompasses comprehensive caregiver socio-demographics, household living arrangements, subjective logistical parameters (including hospital transportation modalities such as private vehicles, transit, or taxis), a single dichotomous item evaluating perceived external social support, and detailed clinical oncology attributes (primary diagnoses, caregiving timeframes, cumulative chemotherapy durations, and frequencies of acute cancer-related hospitalizations). Additionally, the dataset provides item-by-item and cumulative tracking scores for two culturally validated clinical instruments: the 19-item short-form Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI-19) for caregiver burnout assessment and the 21-item Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI-21) for state anxiety profiling. A corresponding data dictionary mapping all categorical, ordinal, and continuous variable coding schemes is embedded within the spreadsheet to facilitate transparency, open science frameworks, and future collaborative meta-analyses in psycho-oncology.
