Protozoa biodiversity analysis in water samples from the river in the Sao Carlos city using metagenome

Protozoa biodiversity is fundamental to evaluate the presence of pathogenic species and the possibility of human contamination. However, the knowledge of their distribution in Brazil is unknown, thus here evaluated its biodiversity in the Monjolinho River, as a model study. The river is a public Brazilian freshwater source that crosses the city of Sao Carlos. Five distinct sampling sites were examined by a metagenomic approach and three sites were examined by metabarcoding 16S rRNA.
