Coral reef health in the face of predictors: A framework for identifying levers for action in favour of conservation along the land–sea continuum

This database concerns the fringing reef of Reunion Island. More specifically, in 2022-2023, 359 and 1,223 stations were studied respectively on the outer slope and reef flat of Hermitage-La Saline, located on the west coast of Reunion Island. At each station, the CORRAM (Coral Reef Rapid Assessment Method) was applied to collect eight indicators relating to benthic biodiversity. The “benthic ecological status” index was calculated and subdivided into two sub-indices: “coral community structure” and “benthic community vitality.” In addition to these ecological variables, 25 variables relating to pressures affecting coral reefs were quantified according to the six Hermitage-La Saline watersheds.
