Our study compared the level and distribution of DNA methylation and gene expression between autotetraploids and diploids from an epigenetic perspective in combination with genome-wide bisulfite sequencing and transcriptome sequencing. The results uncover the genome map from the epigenetic modification and transcription levels of polyploid plants, helping to uncover key genes that influence phenotypes, providing new insight into how WGD enables neopolyploids to overcome early challenges and acquire a set of advantages.
