Hospital discharges after a respiratory system disease in Europe 2021, by country

Discharges from European hospitals following a disease of the respiratory system varied greatly per country. In 2021, with 1,889 discharges per 100 thousand inhabitants, Lithuania had the highest number of discharges after a respiratory system disease. On the other hand, the Netherlands had the lowest number of discharges, with less than 450 per 100 thousand inhabitants. A discharge occurs whenever a patient leaves because of finalization of treatment, signs out against medical advice, transfers to another health care institution, or on death.
