The purpose of this work was to assess microbial diversity in seasonally thawing soils in the south of the Vitim Plateau. The community of prokaryotes in permafrost soils of Buryatia was characterized for the first time along the Darhituy-Khaimisan transect at the southern boundary of the permafrost zone by the NGS method. Twelve data libraries for the fragments of 16S rRNA gene were obtained, with 220784 classified reads.
