This dataset contains the gross industrial output value of the forestry sector (calculated at constant prices) for the period 1952–1987. It was compiled based on the *National Forestry Statistical Compilation 1949–1987*. The dataset records annual data including the total output value, as well as the output values of logging enterprises, wood processing enterprises, forest chemical processing enterprises, machinery manufacturing and repair enterprises, and other industrial enterprises, covering 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across China (excluding Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) plus ministry-affiliated institutions over the 1952–1987 timeframe.
