Rumen Metagenome Analysis of Sheep Supplemented with Rubber Seed Oil and Vitamin E

This project presents the rumen metagenome data from a comprehensive study investigating the effects of dietary rubber seed oil, alone and in combination with synthetic vitamin E, on the rumen microbial community of sheep. The research employed an integrated metagenomic and metabolomic approach to examine taxonomic and functional modifications within the rumen microbiome, delineate alterations in the ruminal metabolome, and reveal associations between specific microbial populations and crucial ruminal metabolites. The primary objective was to understand how these dietary interventions influence rumen microbial ecology, particularly in relation to lipid metabolism, biohydrogenation, and methane reduction. This dataset provides significant insights into the genomic potential and functional responses of the rumen microbiome to novel feed additives, thereby facilitating strategies for sustainable ruminant agriculture while minimizing environmental impact.
