Human Herpes Virus 6 (HHV-6): a study of clinical laboratory data and next generation sequencing

This is a set of files that supports a study of HHV-6 based in a UK teaching hospital. We first set out to describe the epidemiology of HHV-6 infection in the population of patients identified through clinical laboratory testing, and then to ascertain the extent to which we could identify HHV-6 in other clinical samples submitted to the diagnostic microbiology laboratory. The files uploaded here consist of:(i) HHV-6 cohort: anonymised metadata for the 41 unique patients tested for HHV-6 in a clinical cohort (in both xlsx and csv format).(ii) VS ('viral screening') cohort: anonymised metadata for 100 respiratory and 100 CSF samples collected via the routine clinical diagnostic laboratory and screened for HHV-6 by PCR and NGS (in both xlsx and csv format). This study was approved through the UK integrated research application system (REC reference 14/LO/1077).
