Study of the genomic characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from companion animals in Germany

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important One Health pathogen with extensive resistance and virulence traits, yet genomic data from companion animals in Germany are limited. To address this, 72 isolates from various animal species were collected in 2023 and analyzed using whole-genome sequencing and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The study used genomic approaches to characterize resistance genes, virulence factors, and sequence types.
