To investigate the transcriptional features that distinguish B cells capable of internalizing bacteria, B cells were incubated with pHrodoRed-labeled Pm for 2 hours and subsequently sorted into Pm- (exposed but non-internalizing) and Pm+ (bacteria-internalizing) populations. Untreated cells served as non-infected (NI) controls.
