NRS-15930 | MANS Study unregistered correspondence

This series consists of loose papers of unregistered correspondence in the form of agenda and minutes of meetings, studies, newspaper articles, letters with opinion statements and maps attached, as well as Major Airport Needs of Sydney (MANS) study options and a summary of correspondence received by the enquiry centre. Minutes and agendas list the names of the Commonwealth and NSW officials involved in the MANS study meetings. Studies contain information such as aircraft noise, surface traffic, construction problems and community disturbance. The summary of MANS options discuss the outline of construction required, proposals for the operation of airports, the financial and economic costs involved and the impact on the local and wider community.The MANS Study was a joint Commonwealth/State Committee announced by the Prime Minister of Australia and the Premier of New South Wales on 20 October 1976. The study consisted of eight representatives - four nominated by Commonwealth Government and four by the State. (1) The purpose of the study was a joint approach to identifying a suitable strategy for major airport development, including associated surface access and land use, in the Sydney region.
