Field Sampling with Systematic Methods (using bowls and soapy water)

This lab was conducted on Monday September 31st 2015. The weather was slightly windy and cloudy. Also, the area was relatively damp because it had rained a day prior to the experiment. With a partner, 11 bowls (accidentally - in actuality it should have been 10) were distributed around a tree in the grasslands in alternating colours (yellow, white and blue). Soapy water was added to the bowls in order to trap the insects (approx. 1-2 tbs). The same procedure was done in the woodlands, but instead the bowls were placed in a straight line (approx 30 cm away from each other) in alternating colours as well. After an hour, the bowls were examined and the results were recorded.
