The dataset includes the information about the performances of a bacterial collection already available at UMIL for the potential ability to degrade hydocarbon molecules. The collection was previously generated by isolating bacteria associated to the root system of native plants growing in the historically contaminated site of Brescia-Caffaro in Italy, characterized by a complex pollution of PCBs, PCDD/Fs and heavy metals, originating from the activities of the former Caffaro factory. The bacterial strains of this collection have been already identified for their taxonomy, characterized for xenobiotics degradation (mainly PCBs) ability and plant growth promoting abilities as described in the following references: 1) Vergani et al., 2017 (doi: 10.3389/fmicb.2017.01385); 2) Terzaghi et al, 2019 (doi: 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2019.05.458). In this datset the bacterial colelction has been assayed for the ability to use hydrocarbon molecules as carbon source.
