资源简介:
This research is framed by technology, creativity and conceptualism in art. C. P. Snow, 'Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution (1959) outlines relations between art, body and technology and Jack Burnham's 1970 exhibition "Software, Information Technology: Its New Meaning for Art", Jewish Museum, New York, including works by artists Hans Haacke and Joseph Kosuth, linked programming languages, software and the 'dematerialized' nature of conceptual practices. The 'InsideOut' catalogue proposes "exploration of the boundaries between virtuality and physicality" across "differing creative and cognitive methods".
Works were commissioned by Claire Smith, Melbourne University in collaboration with the department of Art & Design, DeMontfort University, with support from Lycette Bros, Art Technology Coalition. Artists from research institutions in the UK and Australia participated, including Anthony Eland (UK), Martin Riesler (UK). Concurrent exhibitions occured in UK and Australia. Catalogue (ISBN 9781857214093) includes 6 chapters, artists statements and images. Reviews include: M MacNeill, 'The Art Life' 16/7/2010.
This creative work explores ideas of virtual hand-modeling as digital thinking-through and research. The research examines themes of appropriation of space by inhanbitants. The virtual space is viewed akin to a warm-water environment, the surface of the screen equated to the surface of the water. This 'interior' environment is related to internal anatomy. The work suggests virtual and digital technologies enable a rereading of bodily and haptic experience at sites that are removed both spatially and temporally. 'Right-handed Object' is a small rapid prototyped resin sculpture with an imprint that textures interior and exterior surface.
