Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Stations

The dataset shows the locations of only active monitoring stations from the NCDEQ Division of Water Resources (DWR) Ambient Monitoring System (AMS). AMS is long-term surface water monitoring program. Active stations are sampled monthly for multiple water chemistry parameters. Station attributes include: station number, monitoring program, current activity status, location description, latitude, longitude, NC county name, state, NC DEQ DWR region, 8-digit HUC, 12-digit HUC, major river basin, river subbasin (deprecated), most recent NCDEQ DWR IR index number and stream classification for monitored reach, waterbody type, watershed drainage area (sq. mi.), years monitored, and a link to accessing available data for the station from EPA's How's My Waterway website.
