The median rent for one- and two-bedroom apartments in Los Angeles, California, amounted to about 2,067 U.S. dollars by the end of 2023. Rents decreased slightly after the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, by about 10 percent between December 2019 and December 2020. This trend swiftly reversed throughout the majority of 2022, and as of December 2023, the annual rental growth experienced a decline of nearly four percent. Among the different states in the U.S., California ranks as the second most expensive rental market after Hawaii.
