BAT025 - Batta - Morphosyntactic data

This dataset contains elicited morphosyntactic data in Batta with Ema Sawoy (born 1970), a native speaker of Batta. Topics elicited include reciprocal constructions; comparative and superlative constructions; the function of 'to want'; constituent interrogatives; number marking in the noun phrase; adpositions; disjunctive co-ordination; the expression of instrumental functions; causative constructions; numeral classifiers; serial verb constructions; predicative possessive constructions; and nominal predication. The session was recorded on 10 March 2023, in Yenenas village (Batanta island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920\100342).
