Database - Modified version UNITE v8.2 database

We created a modified version of the UNITE v8.2 database to improve the taxonomic resolution of domatia-associated Chaethotyriales fungi. The database is available in the file "VBS2024_modified_UNITEdb_v8.2.fasta"

The steps taken for modifying the database can be summarized as follows:
Collect ITS sequences from literature and add useful information to it. The list of sequences can be found in the file "VBS2024_UNITEdb_sequences_metadata.txt"Remove entries that are already in UNITE with an incomplete taxonomic classification. The list of removed entries can be found in the file "VBS2024_UNITEdb_modified_sequences.txt"Add the collected ITS sequences to the UNITE v8.2 database. The list of added entries and their sequences can be found in the file "VBS2024_UNITEdb_added_sequences.fa"In the "README.txt" file, we added the bash code used for modifying the standard UNITE v8.2 database.
