This project continued efforts by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission to restore the physical structure of oyster reefs to improve the status of this ecologically and commercially valuable resource. Three reef sites were identified on public oyster bottom in the Piankatank River (Figure 1 ). This river has served as a valuable oyster seed production area for both the state replenishment program and for the private oyster industry. Grant no. NA56FU0302
