SD-WACCM-X Simulation Dataset for the 27 February 2023 Storm: Lower-Atmosphere Nudging Using February 2023 (SSW) vs February 2022 (Non-SSW) Conditions

The datasets, spanning 24 February to 1 March 2023, are derived from two whole-atmosphere SD-WACCM-X simulations conducted at NSF NCAR. One simulation includes Arctic SSW effects by nudging the lower atmosphere toward MERRA-2 reanalysis for 2023, while the other employs MERRA-2 conditions from 2022 to represent a non-SSW scenario. Both simulations are driven by identical solar and geomagnetic conditions corresponding to 2023. The datasets include winds, temperature, thermospheric ΣO/N₂, ionospheric total electron content (TEC), O⁺ ion production and loss, ExB drift, and neutral wind transport terms for O⁺. The datasets are provided across all latitudes, longitudes, and pressure levels, including ionosphere-thermosphere altitudes.
