Beyond "Add and Divide": Pre-Service Primary Teachers' Conceptualization of the Arithmetic Mean

This repository contains the supplementary data and research instruments for the manuscript titled "Beyond 'Add and Divide': Pre-Service Primary Teachers' Conceptualization of the Arithmetic Mean." To ensure research transparency while maintaining the strict privacy of the participants, all provided materials have been thoroughly anonymized. Personal identifiers have been removed or redacted. The dataset includes the following files: Analyzed Dataset (Spreadsheet): An anonymized spreadsheet containing the raw and coded responses of all participants (N=22) across the diagnostic tasks. This file maps the students' answers directly to the corresponding theoretical categories. Qualitative Coding Scheme (English): A comprehensive dictionary of the codes used for data analysis. It includes detailed descriptions of the APOS stages and Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) categories applied to the students' responses. Anonymized Original Tests (Scans): Complete scanned copies of the diagnostic tests completed by the participants (N=22). These are provided in their original language (Czech). English Diagnostic Test (Blank): A blank, translated version of the diagnostic test in English, provided as a reference to help reviewers and readers navigate the original scanned documents. Interview Transcripts (Original Language): Full, anonymized text transcripts of the qualitative task-based interviews (n=4) conducted in Czech. Interview Transcripts (English Translation): English translations of the anonymized interview transcripts to allow international reviewers to assess the qualitative data and the context of the extracted quotes.
