The objectives were to investigate (i) whether amendment of organic compost and (or) crop residue can improve the fertility of fields; (ii) whether crop yield was affected by the reduced application of chemical N fertilizer, amendment of organic compost, and no crop residue removed; (iii) whether the compositions and structures of the bacterial and fungal communities will change due to reduced N fertilizer with amendments of organic compost and (or) crop residue; (iv) the correlations of soil physicochemical properties and crop yield with microbial communities.
