This paper empirically examines whether earnings management practices affect share performance of the listed firms in East African security exchanges.The sample of the study includes a panel data comprising of sixty non-financial and thirty-eight financial firms listed in four East African countries covering a period of 2016 to 2023. The Generalized Method of Moments model (GMM), was applied to estimate the econometric models.
