DOEN

DOEN focuses on improving local practices regarding unintended pregnancy and vulnerable (prospective) parenthood in the municipality of Groningen. The primary objective of this research is to provide better and more integrated care in the fields of sexuality, contraception, the desire to have children, (prevention of unintended) pregnancy, and vulnerable parenthood. The design of DOEN is largely based on action research. To address the secondary research questions, we form three Communities of Practice (CoP), each focusing on one of the following themes: better identification of vulnerability (1), better conversations on vulnerability (2), and improved cooperation between organizations from the medical (maternity care) and social domains in the areas of sexuality, contraception, the desire to have children, pregnancy, and parenthood (3). From the CoP's, action spirals will emerge to enact improvements within these three themes of the project. Through these action research spirals, users of the care system, potential users, experts by experience, family members, and care providers will be consulted and/or interviewed, either individually or in focus groups. The aim of these interviews and focus groups is to identify bottlenecks and to outline a potentially desired situation, as well as what is needed to achieve it. An action research spiral can also aim to adapt existing practices or experiment with a new (self designed) approach, about which participants (care providers and clients) will subsequently be consulted or interviewed.
