The third electrode embedded in the microbial electrochemical system (MES) was modified with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to enhance electron utilization efficiency on the electrode and further promote antibiotic degradation. We conducted a detailed analysis of the fate and degradation kinetics of the antibiotic throughout the process following electrode modification, and thoroughly elucidated the effects of CNTs modification on microbial diversity and community structure on the electrode.
