资源简介:
This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation at land off Rectory Close, Ashleworth, Gloucestershire, carried out by Cotswold Archaeology in May 2020. A total of seven trenches were excavated, three of the trenches contained archaeology. Trench 2 contained an undated north-east/south-west ditch, 205. Towards the south-east of the site a large irregular pit and tree throw were identified cutting the subsoil and sealed by the topsoil. The large irregular pit contained backfilled deposits from which post-medieval (16-18th century) pottery and CBM (18th century) were recovered. In the north-west of the site, two ditches were recorded in Trench 8, from which Roman pottery was recovered from ditch 804, and medieval pottery (12th to 13th century) from ditch 806. Since these ditches follow modern alignments and the pottery recovered was in only small quantities it is possible that the pottery is residual.
