Political fundamental philosophies, political participation and
judgement on international relations by German young people as well as
younger adults.

Topics: strengths and weaknesses of the political system in the FRG
and reformability of the weaknesses; greatest future dangers for the
FRG; country with a preferred political system; self-image of Germans
(scale); self-assessment of progressiveness; importance of political
goals; political interest and attitude to political participation;
approval of and personal participation in political actions and
protests; attitude to demonstrations and judgement on the conduct of
government and authorities regarding demonstrators; attitude to
intervention in other countries given human rights violations; attitude
to the NPD and communist parties in the FRG as well as to extremists in
the civil service; judgement on the influence of the FRG in the world
and attitude to a claim to leadership; attitude to selected countries;
most important goals of a preferred foreign policy; desire for
independence from the USA and cooperation with other countries;
attitude to NATO as well as to military service or alternate service;
attitude to military service for women; defense preparedness (scale);
assessment of the development of communism in the FRG and Western
Europe; self-assessment on a left-right continuum; party preference
(ballot procedure;first and second votes) and party identification;
behavior at the polls in the last Federal Parliament election.

Scales: political activity, democratic attitude, old and new political
values, political repression, supranationalism, political and economic
human rights.

Demography: age; sex; marital status; religious denomination;
frequency of church attendance; school education; occupational
training; occupational position; employment; income; sources of income;
income of spouse; memberships; telefone.

Interviewer rating: presence of other persons and their degree of
relationship to respondent; reliability and willingness of respondent
to cooperate; date of interview; number of contact attempts.
