Procedure for Obtaining frozen core samples from a liquefied Crystal Silica Sand model (Experiment 3, Ottawa F60 sand)

The purpose of the test was to develop a procedure to obtain frozen core samples from liquefied Ottawa F60 sand. The Ottawa F60 sand model was shaken twice, first with a sinusoidal motion, then with an earthquake motion modeled after the 1960 Chile Earthquake. A malfunction occurred in the data acquisitions system, therefore much of the data is unusable. Large settlement occurred in the model after the Chile motion, and some bubbles were seen coming up from the model. Frozen cores were taken from the model.
