Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021) Global Nutrition Targets Estimates and Forecasts 1990-2050

The Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021), coordinated by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), estimated the burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors for 204 countries and territories. Six global nutrition targets (GNTs) related to low birthweight, exclusive breastfeeding, child growth (i.e., wasting, stunting, and overweight), and anemia among females of reproductive age were chosen by the World Health Assembly in 2012. This dataset provides annual estimates for the prevalence and expected prevalence based on socio-demographic index (SDI) of the six GNT indicators in relevant age groups from 1990 to 2021, with projections of prevalence from 2022 to 2050. It also provides annual estimates for the attributable burden of the indicators in the years 2012 and 2021, with population projections from 2022 to 2050. The estimates are based on data sources used in GBD 2021.
