Italy: municipalities using Short Message System in dealing with users 2009-2015

This statistic illustrates the share of municipalities using Short Message Service (SMS) in dealing with users in Italy in selected years between 2009 and 2015. SMS (Short Message Service), commonly referred to as "text messaging," is a service for sending short messages of up to 160 characters (224 characters if using a 5-bit mode) to mobile devices, including cellular phones, smartphones and PDAs. In 2015, 22.4 percent of the municipalities located in Italy reported to use SMS in dealing with users.
