Craton deformation from flat-slab subduction and rollback

This online supplement contains the GPlates plate reconstruction data. Reconstruction Model 1, based on the global reconstruction by Muller et al (2016), spanned from 230 Ma to the present. Reconstruction Model 2, derived from the global deforming plate model of Muller et al (2019) and Torsvik et al (2008), covered the period from 250 Ma to the present. The newly updated Reconstruction Model 3, developed specifically for this study, extended the model of Muller et al (2019) back to 410 Ma. This extension utilized the relative plate motion framework introduced by Merdith et al (2021) for periods older than 250 Ma.
The directory “Case-1-final”, “Case-2-final”, and “Case-3_GPlates Reconstruction_Liu SF” contain the Model 1, Model 2, and Model 3 of GPlates plate reconstructions considered in the study, respectively. Each sub-directory contains a “.gproj” file to make it straightforward to open the reconstruction with GPlates.
