Note. Table shows Spearman's rank order correlation coefficients except for mean annual precipitation, where the correlation is based on the adjusted of a third-degree polynomial regression (no significance values are given for high latitudes because of poor fit diagnostics). Sample sizes for low/high latitudes: temperature 107/73, precipitation 111/75, precipitation dryest month 107/73, habitat diversity 97/75, density 109/75.
