Metabolite imaging in mouse organ tissues using mass spectrometry

Matrix assisted Laser Desorption/ Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) has emerged as a powerful analytical tool for various molecules such as small molecule metabolites (SMMs), correlating an analytes mass to charge ratio and its spatial localisation on a tissue surface. Despite the growing interest in this technique, a comprehensive SMM MALDI-imaging gallery is still lacking in literature. Here, we present a Small Molecule Metabolite MALDI imaging gallery, unveiling a comprehensive exploration into the spatial distribution of over 100 metabolites of various pathways and classes sourced from three distinct mouse tissues.
