Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the diseases that have plagued mankind until now. It has a complex pathogenesis, which mainly includes inflammation, oxidative stress and glial scar formation. Macrophage-mediated inflammatory response is one of the important aspects after spinal cord injury. Our study found that photobiomodulation (PBM) alleviated the inflammatory response in the SCI region, modulated the polarization state of macrophages, and promoted the recovery of motor function in SCI mice. However, the mechanism by which PBM promotes SCI repair remains largely undefined. We established a forceps injury model in 6-8 week old C57 male mice, which were continuously irradiated in vivo for 7 or 14 days using an implanted biofiber. Subsequently, the effects of PBM on mice with forceps spinal cord injury and the possible mechanisms of action were analyzed using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq).
