These volumes show name and address of appointee and date of appointment, and may show date of supersedeas (ie. revocation of commission), date of resignation of commission, date of death of appointee, date appointee left the colony, and date on which the relevant oaths were administered.Where the person appointed held an official position (eg. Commissioner of Crown Lands) this was noted in vols 1 and 2 (1844-56) together with the name of the district in which appointees could exercise their commission.(5/3250-57). 8 vols.Papers relating to the appointments of Justice of the Peace were extracted from the volumes and can be found in consignment 2.
