Several traditional songs, sung by the late Chaw Sa Myat Chowlik, on 10th May 2004 at Pawaimukh Village, near Margherita, Tinsukia District, Assam. Several songs are sung here. At 0’00”, a song of the style Kham Pung Chat, a song from Tai drama based on Jataka stories (former lives of the Buddha), a verse from a character who si the King’s Minister. 1’10” Some discussion and a second verse, in which the prince becomes a minister. 3’30” Discussion with Stephen Morey about traditional songs. Chaw Sa Myat mentions that rice pounding songs are no longer remembered by Khamyang people. 6’30” A song of the style Mo Kham Theun, a forest song, that would be sung by young people when they went to the forest to collected vegetables. The original video was recorded on a Sony Digital Handycam TRV1 using a Hi8 video cassette that was numbered 2004.10. Language as given: Tai Khamyang
