Astatotilapia burtoni foregut microbiome during mouthbrooding. gut metagenome

A comparison of foregut microbiomes between A. burtoni samples at different stages in the reproductive cycle, including multiple timepoints during mouthbrooding, multiple timepoints after release, and groups post-release with different diets. Results show a sharp decrease in alpha diversity during mouthbrooding, then a gradual recovery of microbiota post-release. There were no significant differences between fed and starved samples, suggesting the decrease in diversity during mouthbrooding is not driven primarily by lack of food.
