Los Angeles Animal Services In-Shelter Bites and Aggregate Shelter Statistics

All data pertains to the CITY of Los Angeles Animal Services. The City should not be confused with Los Angeles County which has its own agency (Los Angeles County Animal Care). The Bites file was provided by the city in response to a California Public Records Act request. It contains information on dog bite reports in animal shelter facilities. While the period covered is not precisely defined, the range of bite dates is August 26, 2015 - February 26, 2023.The Statistics file is a compendium of shelter statistics retrieved from the website https://www.laanimalservices.com/woof-report to facilitate the analysis of the bite data. Each year contains the year-end numbers of the prior year, and these differ (negligibly) from the numbers originally reported for that prior year, presumably because of corrections in the database. The revised numbers are presumed to be more accurate.<br>
