Enhancing the capacity of Yawuru Rangers to protect and manage Roebuck Bay

This project will conduct field surveys with Indigenous Yawuru rangers that will build information about the rare and vulnerable snubfin dolphin whilst building the skills and capacity of Indigenous people to protect and manage the marine environment. Surveys will be both a training classroom and awareness raising forum for conservation management. We will record and incorporate traditional Indigenous knowledge alongside scientific processes in a two toolbox approach. We will educate and engage the community to conserve the coastal/ marine environment by showcasing the partnership in local field days, events, media and online forums.
