Platycodon grandiflorum, the family Campanulaceae, have been used as medicine for therapeutic effects of bronchitis and asthma, in East Asia. The major components found in root of P. grandiflorum are oleanane-type triterpenoid saponin, namely platycodon D, that is synthesized by CYP450 and UGT families.
