TnSEQ of human and animal adapted Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex species

Tuberculosis is a disease that impacts both human and animal populations. The bacterial species that causes TB in humans is primarily Mycobacterium tuberculosis whereas the species that causes TB in animals is primarily Mycobacterium bovis. Mycobacterium bovis can occasionally transmit from animals to humans and cause zoonotic TB. In this study we are trying to identify which genes are essential for the survival of both bacterial species in order to understand the differences between the species and to identify new targets that can be used for the treatment of TB caused by both M. tuberculosis and M. bovis in humans.
