Pollen, macrofloral, and protein residue analyses were conducted on samples from
32ME254. This large stone ring site consisted of 87 features in central North Dakota. These
features are situated around a large slough and north-south trending drainage. A core was
removed from a slough near 32ME254 and sampled at close intervals to provide a pollen record
to interpret the paleoenvironment. A radiocarbon age of 4670 + 50 BP (calibrated to 3620-3345
BC) is reported for the base of the core. In addition, two features were sampled for pollen and
one for macrofloral remains. A total of 28 artifacts were examined for protein residue analysis.
