The alfalfa cyst nematode (Heterodera medicaginis) is an invasive and pathogenic species parasitizing on the agriculturally important forage crop alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.). Infected soil with nematodes was received from Dr. Timothy Todd, Kansas State University. DNA libraries were sequenced on MinION (Oxford Nanopore Techologies). Assembly resulted in a 124,112,457 bp genome in 663 contigs with an average of 40.8X coverage.
