Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant tumor, which poses a serious threat to human health. Several potential therapeutic strategies have been developed following the process of histone modification. We used the ChIP-seq technique for our studies and observed that Histone 3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3) exhibited abnormal methylation and influenced the process of abnormal gene expression in patients suffering from CCA. It was also observed that the Wnt/beta-Catenin signaling pathway (also known as simply the WNT signaling pathway) was rich in CCA-related genes. We are the first to report that H3K9me3 plays an important role in the progression of CCA. It promotes the development of epigenetic molecular mechanisms and new therapeutic targets for CCA.
