Replication materials for: Thirteen Requirements for Viability of Voluntary Health Insurance, and Willingness to Pay Is Not One of Them

Replication materials for a study of what a voluntary health insurance pool must know before it opens, and of whether willingness-to-pay surveys supply it. Four sources describe the requirement: a practitioner handbook of performance indicators, the international supervisory standard for inclusive insurance, the actuarial profession's risk book, and a published capital-requirements model. Between them they name thirteen arguments. Willingness to pay is on none of the four lists. This deposit holds the evidence for three claims in the paper. The structured literature search. Two arms. Arm 1, PubMed and Europe PMC, 12 June 2026: 11,110 records retrieved, 4,855 unique after de-duplication, 190 priority records on title and abstract, 156 after de-duplication on title. Arm 2, OpenAlex, Crossref and the Directory of Open Access Journals, 5 August 2026: 1,817 records, 1,385 unique, 719 carrying both language sets, 188 priority, 57 with a stated-versus-actual signal. Queries, run logs, corpora and stage files are all included. The complete screening record, new in this version. All 156 priority records of arm 1 are listed with authors, year, journal, identifier, disposition, and the reason for that disposition, ordered by relevance. Fifty-five were read in full and 101 were screened out. No record was set aside without a stated reason. Four records are preprints and are labelled as such; three of those four are among the 55 read in full, so the search reached beyond the published literature and still found no study setting a declared sum against what the same households later paid. The household evidence. Willingness to pay elicited from 7,874 households in six rural Indian districts under a common protocol between 2008 and 2010. The correlation and regression workbooks underlying the reported coefficients are deposited; the household-level microdata are not. Also included: replication scripts, a codebook, a provenance map, the external-numbers provenance note, a replication report, and the manuscript's reference list with identifiers. Changes in 2.2.0.
