Dataset, R code and PRIMER file for: Multiscale Patterns of Sponge Diversity on Western Atlantic Coral Reefs

This dataset accompanies the manuscript “Multiscale Patterns of Sponge Diversity on Western Atlantic Coral Reefs: Insights from the Southern Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican Caribbean”, submitted to the Marine Biodiversity. It contains all data and scripts required to reproduce the main figures and tables presented in the article. The dataset includes: sponge_data.xlsx: A multi-sheet Excel file with the following content: data: Abundance of sponge colonies (R-readable format). mMDS: coordinates to reproduce mMDS (figure 3), originally generated with PRIMERv7. figures_scripts.R: R script used to generate: Figure 2: Abundance of sponges per meter^2. Figure 3: mMDS ordination of centroids. Figure 4: Interpolation and extrapolation of sponge species richness. sponge_analyses.pwk: Workspace file for PRIMER v7 + PERMANOVA+, used to conduct multivariate analyses and generate: PERMANOVA results.
